“Compassion is knowing your darkness well enough to sit in the dark with others – it is a relationship of equals, not a relationship between the helper and the helped”

ABOUT ME

Each of us walk a path individually our own and it is my goal to embrace acceptance and unconditional positive regard for each person I am privileged to serve.  It is my life’s work to help people gain peace and perspective, grace and empowerment to improve their ability to live a fulfilled life.  I consider myself a fellow seeker and growth-oriented person and am encouraged and inspired by others who are on the same path.

Therapeutic fit is one of the strongest predictors of successful therapy. Positive outcomes in therapy require you to feel able to take risks and be vulnerable. I provide a warm, open, and collaborative environment in which therapy is tailored to where you are and where you would like to go. While I am trained in many types of therapy and use different modalities depending on one's treatment needs and goals, many of my clients seek me out because of my core therapeutic practices.  I am a certified practitioner of The Daring Way™, a therapeutic approach based on Brené Brown’s research on vulnerability and shame. This work is instrumental in addressing the underpinnings of perfectionism, self-hatred, self-harm, depression, anxiety & feeling not good enough.  I am also a Clinical Meditation and Imagery Specialist, enabling my clients to connect with or deepen their inner wisdom and find meaning and purpose in their lives.  In addition, my advanced training in EMDR, DBT, CFT and Havening Techniques™offer tools for emotion regulation, healing trauma, and developing deep skills for self compassion.  Some of my clients also benefit from creative assignments that help them reach parts of themselves that it would take many hours of typical talk therapy to access.

My Qualifications and Professional Experience Include:

  • Master of Arts in Counseling earned at Marymount University

  • Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Illinois, Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia, Licensed Mental Health Counselor in New York, Nationally Board-Certified Counselor
